At the end of 2016 I I started sending a weekly newsletter about sailing. You can find it here. Surprisingly I’ve actually stuck to it and I’ve got 650 subscribers now which is pretty cool. They’re chatty too and every week I get a couple of really nice emails which keeps me motivated to continue. Typically however, even though I have all week to write it, I’ve always left it to the last minute, so that was this mornings job. Hopefully with more time on my hands I can dedicate more time to doing it sooner. With it sent, we had breakfast and half way through we got a call that our cable had arrived. Tom rushed off to collect it and came back with a worried look. Most probably still too short. ?
After wrestling the panels back onto the bimini it was crunch time. Would the cable be long enough? ? Yes it would! Which was a relief as we had no Plan C. We connected it all up and using the iPhone app watched as they started topping up the batteries. Another job scratched off the list! The only slightly nagging thing is that the panels do make the bimini a bit saggier than it was before. It’s only noticeable if you look, but we’ll need to keep an eye on it. If it starts bumping Tom’s head when he’s on the helm then we’ll need a third supporting bar on the frame.
In the afternoon I fixed the lazy lines. These are basically lines connected between the boom and the mast which stop the sail flopping onto the deck when you lower it. Ours have been utterly useless (far too short) so I replaced them with longer ones which should hopefully do the trick.
