After breakfast on Sunday we picked up anchor for the last time and set off for Ragusa. We motored for an hour or two then had a very leisurely sail along the south coast. We’ve heard amazing things about Ragusa as a place to spend the winter as there’s a large live aboard community and social events happening almost every day. We were arriving a few weeks after most people so Tom and I felt a little like the new kids joining a new school class – rather intimidated! After only being in each others company for so long, could we remember how to be social, and not weird? 😀
As we approached Marina di Ragusa we weren’t the only ones making an entrance. Similar to the other Italian marina’s we’ve visited, they always seem to accompany you in with a RIB and help you into your berth. We hung around outside for a few minutes then were given permission to enter, and were told to stay very close to the left of the entrance (they apparently have a silting problem). It was a nice day so people were sitting in their cockpits which made me even more anxious about not screwing up the parking job. There was zero wind so within a few minutes we were all settled in.
In the early evening we went to check in and met our first (almost) pontoon neighbours in the office. If everyone was going to be this friendly and chatty, we’d make loads of new friends in no time! We stopped off for a drink in one of the (6 or so) bars and watched the sunset whilst listening to some live music. I think we’re going to be very happy here.
