In the morning, almost at first light we were at the door of the amazingly well stocked chandlers. Seeing as we didn’t need anything specific we did pretty well, and came away with a big bag and 250 EURs lighter! We got a replacement shower head for the deck shower (well, ours was leaking), a spare cap for the water/diesel tanks (it would be nightmare if one accidentally went overboard), a floating line for the dinghy (to elevate our paranoia about the current one getting caught around the rudder when reversing) plus a bunch of other absolutely necessary stuff.
Olympic Marina is next to Laviron which was about a 30 minute walk down a dirty and busy road. Again, we didn’t really need anything but we fancied a walk. Along the road we passed a big warehouse complex and spotted one which said Volvo. Perhaps they’d have some engine spares? We walked in and were greeted by two cats, a vintage car and wall-to-wall engines and parts. Hearing footsteps a rather bemused guy came out and asked if we needed help. It wasn’t the sort of place the general public usually frequent! We took 9 filters off his hands, paid an equally bemused Tom Jones look-alike and continued into town.
We had a coffee at the dockside then a yummy burger in a brunch place. On the way home we stopped by what we thought was a food shop, but which turned out to be a huge store of everything you can imagine made in China, of plastic. We picked up a (again, absolutely necessary!) bits and pieces, eventually found the food shop, and made out way back to the boat.
That evening we gave the boat a good clean and got an early night.
