Today was another early morning, this time an 8am appointment in the city to get Tom an MRI scan. After waiting for the rain to stop we walked towards Gracia. It’s a pretty area of Barcelona having initially been a small independent village which later got incorporated into the city whilst managing to retain its identity. We took a wander around it’s narrow, very cute and carless streets which were absolutely deserted!
Ever since we moved to Barcelona we’ve wanted to visit one specific cafe, and it’s a cafe with a difference. Called the Espai de Gats it’s actually a cat sanctuary where you can pop in, have a coffee and spend time with the cats, who are all up for adoption. Cuteness overload! It was a little odd as we were the only ones in there and the atmosphere isn’t exactly “gezellig” as the Dutch would say, but it was nice to get our cat-fix for the year.
We were still obsessively on the hunt for something suitable to build our anchor drain from and settled on some plastic tray things from one of these stores which seems to stock literally everything. After passing the (somewhat awkward) Tom-standing-on-them test (they need to be able to put up with quite a bit of weight) we bought 6 and headed home. Tom made a start on the solar panel cabling whist I made the drain contraption. I used the Dremel tool to cut them into shape, which worked well but it did get freakin hot which meant I got sprayed with little burning fragments of plastic. Still, the end result looks promising, so it was worth it.
In the evening we headed back into town for my leaving drinks with the Schibsted crew. Even though it’s only been a few days it feels like I left literally months ago – it’s weird how our days seem so much longer now. It was great to see everyone again 🙂
